Jul. 4, 2014: As far as we know, all specialty orchid growers, greenhouses or nurseries are closed today for the 4th of July holiday. That means, we’re limited to the mainstream garden centers and grocery stores for our orchid fix today. It was the usual Phalaenopsis plants all around but this one caught our eye from the Royal Oak branch of English Gardens.

Phal. Bernice Phal. Bernice is what is written on the tag that came with the plant but I can’t find any actual registration for that hybrid.

Although this picture shows the flowers to be limey-yellow, it’s actually more greenish which made it stand out from all the white, pink, or purple plants there.

For a small plant, it has two flower spikes on it.

Happy 4th of July!
