Apr. 19, 2015: Today was the April meeting of the Michigan Orchid Society where Thomas Sampliner gave a presentation on the Mediterranean region featuring a lot of Ophrys. It was a very interesting talk which made us want Ophrys even more. Our experiment in growing Ophrys from seed (story told here) didn’t really develop any further than what we had documented here so we’ve only continued to dream of someday having one.

From the society raffle after the presentation, we took home some great plants!

(picture from Internet) We had no clue what the flowers of this plant would look like when we picked it up from the raffle table. It’s a genera we’ve never heard of before tho so we took a chance. Would be cool to bloom this out!
