Jul. 11, 2015: OMG! We now have a Phal. gigantea! The weather outside is perfect for a roadtrip down to Taylor Orchids and shoot the breeze with Ron Ceisinki. We never have any plans or idea what plants we’ll end up bringing home since every time we visit, it’s always such a unique experience. While walking through the aisles with Ron, we spotted this big, unlabeled Phal plant in spike. Ron says it’s one of his old giganteas. Larry joked about buying it and we were extremely surprised when he let us! We are beyond geeked!

Phal. gigantea – Ron says he got this particular plant in 1975!

Phal. giganteaWe hope we don’t blast the flower spike it came with.

This was a picture of the flowers that was on this plant during Taylor Orchids’ last open house (story told here). We didn’t think we would be able to get a piece of this plant back then. So excited we have it now! It’s our first Sarcochilus, too!

(picture from Internet) Ron sent us home with a division of this plant since he thought we might like the flowers. Searching online for pictures of the flowers, YES! We’ll definitely love the blooms on this plant!

Phalaenopsis inscriptiosinensis
Phalaenopsis “inscription” – Ron gave us this plant to rehab. We got one from him before (story told here). Unfortunately, the flower spike that came with that first one blasted so we’re still in the dark as to what this Phal really is.
