Porter’s Summer Open House

Oct. 25, 2015 [update]: So our Dtps. Maui Galaxy is finally bloomed and it looks distinctly different from the one that was in bloom at Porter’s when we got it. Ours looks like ink was spilled on it.

Oct. 12, 2015 [update]: Now we know how the Phal. Zuma’s Pixie ‘Jia Ho’ x venosa flower looks.

Aug. 20, 2015 [update]: The Lc. (Precious Jewel ‘Royston’s Art Explosion’ x L. lucasiana v. Fournier) is now in bloom and what a surpise! They’re pink! The flowers at Porter’s were yellow if I remember it correctly.

Aug. 15, 2015: It’s Porter’s Orchids Summer Open House and it was awesome to see such a great turn out. We went out there with Yvonne and we brought home some great plants.

Cattleya Egeria
C. Egeria (Canhamiana x walkeriana v. coerulea)

The flower on this plant is beautifully blue!

Lc. (Precious Jewel ‘Royston’s Art Explosion’ x L. lucasiana v. Fournier). There was a sample of this plant that was in full bloom but it was too crowded that I didn’t get a chance to take a decent picture of it. We’ll just have to wait and get the buds on this plant to open to document how the flowers look here.

(picture from Internet) This is a picture of Phal. Zuma’s Pixie. We picked up this hybrid because it’s a cross with venosa which we really like.

This is a picture of one of the many variations of this hybrid that was there. We were initially drawn to one that looks peloric but we decided to go for a surprise and went for one that’s just in spike instead.

After dropping off Yvonne at her place, she let us take home some Masdevallias that we inherited from a fellow MOS member who couldn’t take care of her plants anymore. THANKS, YVONNE! Hopefully our Masdevallia experiment works and we don’t kill these.

We also got this odd duck plant with a Laeliocattleya tag:

Oncidium Laeliocattleya
Clearly it’s an Oncidium Alliance plant but the tag says: Lc. Kristi Masuharo ‘Paradise’. Would be interesting to see what the flowers would actually look like.
