Easter weekend at Taylor Orchids

on

Mar. 26, 2016: Happy Easter! We spent the Saturday with Ron at Taylor Orchids–talking shop over coffee, cake and pizza. Good times! We also went around the greenhouse considering the larger plants that we would like to  get once we move to our new home with more space. In the meantime, we took home some of small plants.

We helped Ron divide this plant and we got a piece of it. Such a beautiful, unusual flower!

This picture makes the flowers look pink but they’re actually more like velvet-purple.

(picture from Internet) It’s always interesting/exciting to encounter an old hybrid that’s a challenge to find pictures of online or on Orchidwiz. This is one of them. Paph. Paeony which is one of the parents is a very old hybrid and ever it’s rather difficult to find good pictures of.
